Here is one of my very favorite things about life at Vintage Oaks New Braunfels TX. You wake up to the oak trees, the wide-open views, and those Hill Country sunsets right outside your window. Then when you are ready for a little adventure, some of the best stuff in all of Texas is sitting just down Highway 46. So grab your calendar, because I want to walk you through a perfect weekend!
There is nothing more Hill Country than a lazy float down the Guadalupe River, and from Vintage Oaks you are practically in the backyard of it. The Horseshoe stretch is one of the prettiest spots to put in, with cypress trees leaning over the water and that cold, clear current doing all the work for you. Pack a cooler, round up the neighbors, and let the river carry you for an afternoon. It is the kind of slow, happy Saturday that reminds you why you moved to the Hill Country in the first place.
Once you are showered and sun-kissed, it is a quick drive into downtown New Braunfels, and let me tell you, the dining scene down there is having a moment.
A few spots we are loving right now:
Old City Hall. Set inside the historic former municipal building, this one is upscale American done right. Think steak, fresh pasta, a great burger, and a martini list worth lingering over. Perfect for a date night or a special occasion.
Saludos. Tucked into the historic Dittlinger building just off the main square, Saludos brings Mexico City street flavors to town with handcrafted margaritas, shareable plates, and a weekend brunch that has folks lining up. The dog-friendly patio is a favorite, so bring your fur babies along.
The Faust Hotel. Oh, this is the big one. Our beloved 1929 landmark reopened in May after sitting empty for more than two years, and the remodel is stunning. Inside you will find Wilhelm & Werner, a Texas brasserie with European influences, plus a basement speakeasy called Walter's that nods to the hotel's Prohibition-era roots. Grab a cocktail in the lobby bar and soak up nearly a century of New Braunfels history. We could not be more grateful to see this old beauty shining again.
If the kids have any energy left, Schlitterbahn is right here in New Braunfels, and it is a family-friendly classic for a reason. Hours of slides, the Falls, and the river rides will wear everybody out in the best way. Pack the sunscreen, plan to stay all day, and let the little ones run wild. It is one of those summer traditions that makes living near New Braunfels feel like a permanent vacation.
Here is the best part of the whole weekend. After all that adventure, you get to come home to Vintage Oaks New Braunfels TX, where the amenities feel like a resort you never have to check out of. We are talking an Olympic-sized pool, a lazy river, and a covered kiddie pool for the littles. Timber Ridge Park has a playground for the kids, and around the community you will also find pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts for when you are feeling competitive. Plus miles of trails wind right through the neighborhood for your morning walk or evening bike ride. The river and the restaurants and the waterpark are wonderful, but coming back to your own slice of the Hill Country? That is the real luxury.
